As a transport company, we find lost objects every day. Usually we keep these for a certain period to enable us to try to return them to the legitimate owners.
There are the following possibilities:
- The passenger immediately realizes that he has lost or forgotten an object: in this case, he should call the operations centre in Lugano (Tel. +41 (0)91 923 23 92) at once and ask for a specific search, detailing, if possible, the carriage and the departure time of the train.
- The passenger realizes only later that he has lost or forgotten an object: in this case he should call the operations centre in Lugano (Tel. +41 (0)91 923 23 92) and give as many details as possible to help to identify the lost property. Usually, lost property is found by train drivers at the end of their shift or in the morning by the clean-up crew, and is then forwarded to the operations centre. The operations centre will contact the owner by telephone, and the latter will be able to retrieve the lost property at the Lugano train station. In case of valuables, if the legitimate owner does not come forward within ten days, they will be entrusted to the Lugano police station and handled together with all the objects lost in the city. Unfortunately, lost valuables will frequently not be found, since other passengers will have taken them.
